Wednesday 3rd September

Yeshurun is organising its first Mission to Poland, next year.  Designed to be long enough to be meaningful but short enough to avoid taking too long off work the Mission begins early on a Sunday winter's morning on 15th February and concludes on Tuesday evening, 17th February.

The detailed itinerary is here, together with details of how to book.  You need to book the flights yourself NOW with Ryanair then contact our agent, Marcel Manson, who will arrange everything else for you.

To prepare for this important Mission, Yeshurun is hoping to run a programme of cultural learning during the winter, before the trip, for those attending, though of course anyone will be able to attend these.   Further details shortly.

Can You Help The Needy for Yomtov?
Especially in the current economic circumstances, Chover Leon Topol is again coordinating our appeal to provide financial assistance to the needy of our community. Donations can be made through Yeshurun's office or directly to Chover Leon Topol (left) at his home.

Israel Mission Postponed following Economic Downturn

Yeshurun's Mission to Israel, which was due to have taken place over Chanukah, has been postponed as the economic situation takes hold. Yeshurun President, Russell Grossman (pictured), said rising household bills, airline fuel surcharges and an increasingly unfavourable exchange rate conspired to make the detailed schedule infeasible at this time.

He said "Yeshurun still intends to go ahead with a Mission to Israel at some stage in the future, and all the reasons for staging one remain valid.  However, we have to be sensitive to people's current circumstances and as we were working on the detailed itinerary it became clear that we would not be able to secure the numbers needed for a successful trip.  We also looked at moving the dates forward to a shorter trip in November but this didn't work either.  We will keep the concept in mind however and hopefully will revive the idea within the next 12 - 18 months.

In contrast, the Poland Trip to Cracow and environs, to be led in February by Rabbi Lewis, is showing strong demand.  The list is likely to close before the number increases too much.   Yeshurun wants to take around 25 people on the trip in total.
