Yeshurun Launches Major New Programme To Boost Your In-Service Experience

First Session This Monday Night
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new four part programme to boost your in-service experience, focusing on our prayers and the way we say them.

Called the Tefillah (ie 'Prayer') Programme the series of lectures and classes is designed to enhance people's in-service experience by creating a forum for learning and discussion about the structure of the services as well as the history, meaning, interpretation and halachah (laws) relating to particular prayers.

Led by Rabbi Alan Lewis, Rabbi Geoffrey Shisler and Rev Michael Simon, the programme will focus in particular on the prayers for Succos, starting on Monday, 29th June.    These sessions no longer need to be pre-booked.  Just turn up.   There is a small charge of £6 for a single session or £10 for the evening.  More here>>

Youth Director Sought for Yeshurun

We have now begun our search for a new Youth Director from the beginning of September to replace Jonny Ufland who is stepping down at the end of August. This is an exciting role with responsibility for driving forward our youth strategy and with plenty of scope to pioneer new ideas to enhance the Yeshurun youth experience. Further details are available from Steve and expressions of interest are requested to him no later than Tuesday 14 July.

Compton is Chairman of Emunah UK
Camille Compton has become Chairman of Jewish women's organisation Emunah in the UK.  Involved with Emunah for many years, she follows mother-in-law, Gertrude Compton in high office within the organisation

Emunah is one of the leading providers of social welfare services in Israel , with 225 projects in 150 communities helping thousands of children and their families on a daily basis through its network of residential homes, high schools, day care centres and counseling & therapy centres.  Emunah in the UK is responsible for funding 35 of these projects.

One of Compton's first challenges will be to get volunteers back into Emunah. Until now a female domain, Emunah has been hit by the trend for more and more women to go out to work.  Compton nevertheless hopes to get more volunteers back on board.  Competition from many more charities than have previously existed also means she needs to raise Emunah's profile in the community.

We wish her every success in her new role.  She's seen here with wife of the Chief Rabbi , Elaine Sacks.  More here>>
